Secondary (G9-12)

Hokmah Academy’s Upper School provides a rigorous, structured academic program that prepares students for university-level study and lifelong learning. All students follow a strong classical core curriculum, while also having opportunities to pursue Honors-level work and selected electives in the upper grades. The program emphasizes clear thinking, strong writing, and disciplined study across all subjects

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Core Subjects
(All Students)

Every student studies a full set of core subjects each year:
 

  • Literature & Reading

  • Writing & Composition

  • Grammar & Language

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • History

  • Philosophy & Western Texts

  • Logic / Philosophy

  • Latin (foundational level)
     

This ensures all students receive a complete and well-rounded education.

Honors Courses

Students may take Honors-level courses based on readiness.
 

Honors courses include:

  • More challenging readings and assignments

  • Higher expectations in writing and analysis

  • Additional independent work

  • Seminar Level Discussions and Oral Expressions

  • Higher level thinking
     

This allows advanced students to be stretched while maintaining the same core structure.

Elective Courses

In Grades 11–12, students can choose from a small number of electives while continuing their core studies.

Elective options include:
 

  • Greek or Hebrew (language studies)

  • More Classical Studies

  • Advanced Mathematics or Science

  • Technology and applied studies

  • Additional humanities or writing-focused courses

  • Fine Arts and Media

  • Athletic
     

Electives allow students to deepen areas of interest without losing academic focus.

Technology Learning

Students graduate able to think logically, build structured solutions, and apply technology with clarity and purpose.

Core Area of Learning

  • Computational Thinking: Breaking down problems into logical steps

  • Programming: Writing, testing, and improving code

  • Systems Thinking: Understanding how components work together

  • Data & Analysis: Interpreting information and making decisions

  • Design & Problem-Solving: Building solutions for real challenges

Senior Capstone Projects

All students must complete a Capstone Project, including:

  • A research-based written thesis

  • Integration of multiple disciplines

  • Oral presentation and defense
